Botanical Illustration
Instructor: Jenna Lechner, Portland, Oregon Start date: Saturday June 23rd One Day Only! Time: Saturday 1 pm- 3pm Location: Upstairs Studio Cost: $10.00 member/$15.00 nonmember Supplies: I will bring all supplies. They include: rulers, watercolor paper, towels, artist’s tape, water brushes, watercolor pencils, plants. Age Requirements if any: Age 7+ Skill Level Requirements if any: None, beginners welcome Minimum: 4 Maximum: 16 Learn to draw plants from life, using direct observation. We’ll learn tricks and techniques for colored pencils and watercolor pencils. This class is great for beginners and intermediates: people interested in illustration, nature lovers, and for those who simply want to learn more drawing basics. This workshop is an opportunity to draw botanical subjects (plants & flowers) from life, using direct observation. We’ll learn special techniques for colored pencils and watercolor pencils, in addition to observational drawing. This class is great for beginners & intermediates, for aspiring illustrators, and for people who want to learn more about working with colored pencils and watercolor pencils. It’s also a good class for those who want to learn how to watercolor: watercolor pencils are a great bridge and starting point to go from drawing to painting Welcome Back to Crossroads—Jenna Lechner, Portland, OR Jenna Lechner is an illustrator, teacher, and writer living in Portland, OR. She is currently watching Scandal, drawing, and wearing a knit sweater out-of-season, probably. Jenna studied art and art history in Florence, Italy, and the University of Oregon. She received a bachelor’s of fine art degree (in printmaking) in 2010. She works in natural media like watercolor, gouache, and pen and ink. She also enjoys paper crafts, print media, and writing profiles in the third person. She has worked with—and been featured by—people like: Adobe, Pentel of America, HTC, Wildcat Echo, ArtAsiaPacific, The Cleavery Quarterly, the Portland Mercury, the Willamette Week, Paper Darts, Grounded Magazine, Galler.ee Inc, the Daily Serving, Wide Eyes Paper Co., and more!
