The 14th (Almost) Annual Great Salt Lick Contest
One-of-a-kind art festival featuring artistic salt lick sculptures tongue-crafted by local cows, sheep, goats, deer, and the occasional human.
The Great Salt Lick will resume this year (2022) after a two-year hiatus. Thanks to all the Baker City Merchants who helped fund it, all who participated in supplying the blocks, those who bought them, the audiences, and the animals who licked the blocks. In 13 years, the event has brought in just over $160,000. The money was donated to The Parkinson’s Center of Oregon, Oregon Health Science University.
