"The West in Pencil," hyper-realism pencil drawings by artist Anne Carr, will be featured during the month of June at Crossroads. We are very excited and honored to have such a talented artist showing at Crossroads. Anne's drawings reflect her love of horses and other animals, children, the West and its people and culture, and her passion for drawing. When Anne was a wee thing, she loved horses. At age 8 her father brought home a monster Tennessee Walker named Big Red, and she'd clamber up on his back and ride through the orange groves and gallop down the red clay back roads of Florida. Though she wanted to major in art when she went to FSU, her father convinced her she'd starve to death, so she followed her head and became a computer programmer. Now that she's retired and living in McCall, Anne has finally returned to her first love - horses. She is mostly self- taught, yet Anne has studied privately with professional watercolor and oil painters abroad and after taking an 8 day intensive workshop in hyper-realism pencil drawings in Ibiza, Spain, Anne found her calling.
