Place/Making; A Four-Way Conversation group art exhibit

?Place/Making: A Four-Way Conversation? a group art exhibit of four artists whose work is connected by place. While perspectives, backgrounds and mediums are very diverse, we are all influenced by our surroundings in rural eastern Oregon. Nika Blasser, a multi-disciplinary artist with a focus on exploring the properties of materials; Shari Dallas, an abstract painter, whose work in oil and graphite on masonite reflect her surroundings; Roberta Lavadour, a book artist who uses diverse material to explore memory and storytelling; and Lori Sams, a fiber artist who translates the expressive quality of line with hand-sewn drawings. All four women live, work and create in Pendleton, Oregon. Together, they formed an art group to provide a much needed creative support network for one another which offers feedback, sharing of ideas and discussions on art related topics in the rural eastern Oregon town. The exhibit will be on display March 1st through Friday, March 29th. Following the Friday Open Reception, on Saturday, March 2 from 11am - 12:30pm, you're invited to join the four exhibiting Place/Making artists for a group discussion exploring making art in rural areas. Possible topics for discussion are; how does art making in rural areas affect one's work, or not? What are the challenges and benefits of being a working artist in rural areas. Light refreshments will be provided. The discussion is a free event to the public.
