Not Your College Pottery Class – HANDBUILDING II Instructor: Shannon Gray Dates: Wednesdays, March 6th - April 24th (8 classes total) Time: 6 – 8pm Location: Crossroads Pottery Studio Age Requirements if any: 21 and over Minimum number of students: 6 Max # of Students: 8 Course cost: $80 for members/ $115 for nonmembers Supply Fee; $25 for 25 lbs of Clay and all firing charges and free use of the Crossroads Studio during your scheduled class. Complete course description: *Perfect for students from this winter’s “Not Your College Pottery Class - Intermediate Level!” This class is for the adventurous potter who wishes to expand their skill set and step out of their handbuilding comfort zone! In this class we’ll further hone our handbuilding skills by exploring more advanced techniques. On the docket: creating functional slab forms with unconventional molds; exploring techniques for lidded vessels; combining coil, pinch, and slab to form more complex pieces (such as a teapot or nesting bowl series); developing more decorative techniques such as slip transfers; and more! This class will keep you pushing your creative boundaries in a fun and relaxed environment! As always, feel free to BYOB! Prerequisite: Experience with clay and basic understanding of handbuilding and/or wheel-throwing.
