Marionette Menagerie Polymer Clay Workshop Instructor: Dawn-Marie deLara Dates: Thursday March 14 Last date to sign up: Tuesday March 12 Time: 6 – 8 p.m. Class may run later, depending on number and skill levels of participants Location: upstairs Course cost: $16 members, $24 non-members Materials fee: $14 Student should bring: Photos of animal of your choice for reference, particularly side and front views of head. This is not absolutely necessary, but sculpting a whimsical character is easier with a realistic reference or two. Age requirements: 12-Adult, children 8-11 may take class with a paid adult Skill Level: Beginners will be able to do this, more experienced clayers will be able to up the challenge. Minimum number of students: 4 Maximum number of students: 8 Complete course description: Crossroads has a history of puppetry dating back to its inception and instructor Dawn-Marie deLara has fond memories of rabbits on the downstairs stage, in those early days. By request, she’s bringing back that fun with this basic anthropomorphic animal marionette class. Though marionettes can be made of many materials, for this class we’ll be using polymer clay to create colorful, whimsical dancing animals. Participants will leave with a puppet and printed materials to make more from a variety of materials at home.
