Keeper of your Heartsong (A paperclay figure for any skill level)

Instructor: Dawn-Marie deLara Start date: March 10th thru March 31st (Saturday mornings for 4 Weeks) Time: 9:30 AM-12:30 AM Location: Upstairs Studio Cost: $60.00 members/$90.00 for Non-Members Lab Fee: $10.00 per person includes all supplies Minimum: 3 Maximum: 9 Age: 16+ Skill Level: Beginner Course Description: Who knows your heart of hearts? Do you have a guardian angel? An animal totem? An elemental being? Create a box-bodied figure that holds your chosen symbols of gratitude or intention, and incorporates your favorite spiritual mentor, using easy to lean sculpting techniques and air dry clay. Create an art doll with a box body, similar to my nicho piece in the February Theme Show at Crossroads, but smaller. Students will enjoy a little guided meditation to clarify imagery and the learn how to the plan structure/armature/hanging: sculpting stryofoam as a base for heads; wired hands (everyone learns them, even though some will likely not need them their character in the class); modeling, molding, and stamping paperclay; coloring/tinting/painting with alcohol inks or acrylic paints. As these are tiny nichos or altars, there will be some discussion about using them to hold symbols of intentions or gratitude. Instructor: Dawn Marie deLara, New instructor to Crossroads.
